Message from the President

As President, I welcome the new Toastmasters year with optimism and excitement as I look forward to the continued growth that lie ahead for ‘OUR’ Club and its members. As long as we continue to provide the mutually supportive and positive learning environment that we are all accustomed to, support the efforts of our officers and pay our membership dues, we will succeed in all our endeavors and continue the great legacy of the “1600 BRAND”.

I am grateful for the opportunity to serve as President of our historic organization. The rich legacy of Club 1600 began with the Club’s Charter and Charter Ceremony that pre-dates The independence of our Bahamaland. I am proud to be associated with the quality of members ourClub has produced over the decades.

As I dedicate myself to serving once again, it is my desire to pay homage to the men that laid the foundation upon which Club 1600 stands.

Thus, my general focus this year is two (2) fold:

1. To ensure that the history of the Club is properly archived and made accessible to club members and members of the general public.

2. To ensure that quality members are recruited; mentored; and that a system of retention is implemented. My goal after recruitment, mentoring, and retention, is that every member is trained in the art of effective communication and leadership skills which will prepare them for the future.

It is the goal of our executive team to ensure that we Preserve our Past and Embrace our Future. I thank the members of The First Bahamas Branch of Toastmasters International Club 1600 for affording me the opportunity to serve OUR Club as President.

‘No man is an Island,’ therefore, I ask for the continued support and encouragement of the members that molded my foundation and I challenge our members today to continue our legacy.

Fellow Toastmasters, I invite you to join the Executives and me in “Preserving our Past … Embracing our Future.”

Regards,

TM Charles Newbold III

President
